FROM THE GM - Vicki Richardello
The Women’s Allied Championship was held Tuesday at Taconic. Congratulations to our good friend, Cheryl Krueger who won the tournament with an 81, along with the Taconic team that took club honors. Second place was won by our own Nancy Barry  who lost by a a shot, shooting an 82. The course played hard, but many golfers went the distance, along with our buddy, Marilyn Truskowski who took net honors with a 67.

We still have a few openings, but will need to place our tee gift order within the next week. The Allied Scotch will be played at Wyndhurst GC on Sunday, Sept. 12. Both players must belong to an Allied Club to participate. click here
Glow Ball will return September 10. We will limit the field to 9 teams, 36 players. Signup sheets for a 4 person team are posted on the pro shop door! A dinner option is available before the 7:30 PM start date. Defending Champions Jake Phillips, Seth George, Chris Koch and Mike Picard plan to defend their ‘Can’t see where we’re going’ title!!
My 3 favorite golf movies are Happy Gilmore with Adam Sandler, CaddyShack with Chevy Chase and Tin Cup with Kevin Costner. Tin Cup was made 25 years ago! Tom Brady and Jake Benzinger, teammates of defending Super Bowl Champions Tampa Bay Buccaneers, can hopefully begin to defend their Championship at Game 1, on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at home against the Dallas Cowboys! Jake was a 3 sport star at MGRHS and went on to play college ball at Wake Forest! Now that Tom and Jake are teammates, we have a double reason to root for the Buccaneers!
PGA Tour Player of the Year is Collin Morikawa who joins Justin Thomas as the PGA of America Player of the Year!
Bad year for Rickie Fowler and Tommy Fleetwood. Neither of these great players made the cut for the FedEx Cup.
Congratulations to 27 year old Jordan Eisner who shot his career best score last Saturday, a 76, while playing with best friends Zack Scheck and Brandon Pomerance and Jeffrey Scheck at Waubeeka. Jordan may not make the PGA Tour, but my bet is he experienced a lifetime memory he will never forget; nor will he forget the best friends he played with that day! Lesson: Enjoy this lifetime sport every day you are able!

FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT - Brian Bartlett
We are spending lots of time repairing older carts, so we are considering trading in our old fleet for some brand new units! Add that to our second most time consuming job which is fixing irrigation leaks. Many of our summer crew will be leaving for college soon. Where has the summer gone?

The specials this weekend include Filet Mignon and Chicken wings, Chicken wings, Chicken wings, Chicken wings,  Chicken wings. Really great wings, really great view and really good waitstaff. The summer is flying by and, if you haven’t, you need to try our wings! Reservations are required and we stop serving at 8 PM.

Thursday, September 30, the first TOM SULLIVAN PRO-AM, Official name “THE SULLY” will be played at CCOP. I need 3 playing partners who knew and loved our pro of pros!
This past Sunday we held our Annual Member Member. 13 teams took part in the event. The winning gross score developed into a tie at 71.
After the tiebreaker(back nine score) the team of Al Stalker & Tom Degray  came out victorious over the team of Geoff Tatro & Todd Shafer. Third place also developed into a tie between the teams of Don Mead & Nick Petropulos and Dalton Young & David Senecal. Don & Nick came out victorious with their back nine score breaking the tie. The winning net team was Ron Goss & Jack Pieraccini with their 61. Second place was claimed by the father/son tandem of Dan & Chris Bourdon with their 64. Ed Flaherty & Tom Morandi also had a 64, but fell to third in the match of cards.
The Club Championships are just around the corner and the sign up is on the proshop door. Get your name up there and get out on the course! $20 is the entry fee. We are looking for both gross and net champions for men and women.
This week our free junior clinic at 1 PM will include work on the full shot! Only 3 weeks left; hoping the last week is real hot as we need all the juniors to help us find lost golf balls in the river, just as they did last year. Please don’t feed the crocodiles!
Great effort by our very own Jamie Gaffey. He played on Tuesday in the Massachusetts Public Links Championship but a couple of holes led to his missing the cut. Once again, keep up the good work and the Club Championship is right around the corner...possible 3peat??
Week Four of our weekly Chip n’ Sip was again a huge hit! We began work on the full golf swings using irons. Next week we will be working on the woods. 6-7 PM for the ”chip” portion and 7-? for the “sip” portion.

If you think it isn't difficult to play the PGA tour consider this. Last week Justin Rose 3 jacked the 18th hole on Sunday at the Wyndham Championship (he missed a 5 footer) and did not make the top 125 to qualify for the FedEx Cup Playoff. Bad news for Rose, but good news for Chesson Hadley who will now take the spot.
Working for other publications, I would often channel my inner Phil Mushnick and comment on various sports announcers:
Don Orsillo (NESN) drove me nuts and some people credit me for getting him run out of town.
I now would like to utilize my "end around" and get him back. The reason, Dave O'Brien, his replacement at NESN is worse. With Orsillo, at least I would wait for the second inning to locate the mute button, with O'Brien I have given up on sound entirely. With "OB" you get such as this in all broadcasts:
*A runner doesn't score, he touches home plate.
* A batter doesn't step up to the plate, he climbs into the batter's box. There is no incline near home plate. (Or "the dish" as he refers to it)
* When a hitter comes up to bat and he has homered earlier in the game, (If he is a Sox player) Dave will tell us he has either smashed, clubbed or blasted a homer or a dinger is his last at bat. How about "he homered in the third"? * Nobody ever simply "walks" with him. He has to say he "took a walk" in the 3rd. Where did he go Dave?, first base? O'Brien must have served an apprenticeship with the golf analysts who tell us that golf balls have "found" bunkers and hazards. Guys who have turned greens into putting surfaces.
* For a fan like myself who grew up with Mel Allen telling it like it is without all the window dressing it was pretty simple. "Batting for the Yankees in the third we'll have Mantle, Maris and Berra".
With "OB" we get Kiki, Xander and Rafael. He refers to Sox players like he has them over to the house for dinner or maybe a book club meeting after the game.
I do feel sorry for O'Brien because he has to work with Dennis Eckersly. He is forced to respond to "Ek's" stupid questions.
"This kid can hit, can't he?"
" He came up with the Orioles, didn't he?"
"I think he made the all star team a few years ago, didn't he?"
" Bogy has been playing lights out lately, hasn't he?"
"His stuff is working tonight, isn’t it"?
O'Brien is then required to acknowledge and respond to the questions that Ek already knows the answer to.
That is annoying.

Artist Talks. A couple of the artists who have or will have their works on display have expressed interest in a talk about their current offerings here and other works in their studio. Ivan Stojakovic has opened his new studio in North Adams at the former NAPA site on Canal Street and we will ask about his availability for our first discussion about his beautiful new site, his works and his vision!

PGA Tour - Kevin Kisner was in a playoff with 5 other fellow pros at the Wyndham Championship last Sunday. Kisner, who made a statement to U.S. Ryder Cup Captain Steve Stricker that he wants a spot on the US Team, birdied the second hole to end the sixsome and pick up his $1,152,000 prize!
This week marks the beginning of the $15,000,000 top prize FedEx playoffs where the top 125 players tee it up at The Northern Trust at Liberty National GC in Jersey City, NJ, round 1 of golf’s biggest prize.
James Piot, a student at Michigan, won the U.S. Amateur!

LPGA Tour - 34 year old American born Ryann O’Toole won her first ever LPGA Tour event with a 3 stroke victory at the Trust Scottish Open!
This week the Tour heads to Carnoustie, Scotland for The Women’s British Open.

DEEP Thoughts - Our thoughts are now with the ever present Delta variant to Covid. Some courses in the area have already mandated masks to be worn in the club house and pro shop regardless of being vaccinated. It is something we will consider in the near future. We want to keep our staff and patrons safe, so that we all can continue to enjoy the game we all love.
